Statistics for Geoscience

This blog aims at discussing the application of statistics to geoscience, especially geochemistry. As it is not possible to describe everything, some of the useful external links shall also form part of the blog posts. The overall objective is promoting understanding of basics of statistics and eliminate bad practices in interpretation. Since proprietary statistical software is unaffordable for some people, I shall focus here only on the use of Open Source software - the R.

Eswaramoorthi Sellappa Gounder: I am a geochemist studying the speciation of biologically active major and trace elements in the sediments and natural water to investigate their role in the global carbon cycle. The geochemical processes of weathering, riverine transport, flocculation, precipitation in the estuaries, and biological transformation of the elements in the ocean are of great interest to me. By studying these interactions, I try to explore the earth surface processes and the paleoclimate of the Earth. My hobbies are learning astronomy, electronics and mathematics. I had been involved in the design and establishment of Common Effluent Treatment Plants using Membrane Bioreactor. I also provide consultancy services for industrial wastewater treatment.
